We’re participating in Localgiving’s Grow Your Tenner campaign. Every £10 donation to buy sleeping bags for the Night Shelter will earn us an additional £10 from the online fundraising site.

The campaign launches at 10am on the 18th October and will end on the 17th November, or when all the funds have run out – whichever comes first! So if you’d like to donate, and attract extra funds to help local people, it’s vital you get in quick.

You can donate to the campaign at https://localgiving.org/appeal/sleepcosy/

Sleeping bags provide people with a comfortable night’s sleep, and as well as using them in the Night Shelter, we also give them to rough sleepers. The Night Shelter is sometimes the first point of contact we have with people. They are more able to face the challenge of finding a place to live and a new job once they have slept somewhere warm and had a decent meal. The journey away from homelessness can be long and complicated, this is the simple first step on that journey.

During Localgiving’s Grow your Tenner campaign, one-time donations will be matched pound-for-pound up to £10 and monthly donations up to £10 per month for three months. That means for a one-time £10 donation with Gift Aid, the 999 Club will receive £21.67. A monthly Direct Debit could result in over £80 worth of funding.

Because of Localgiving’s generous match funding for ‘Grow your Tenner’, each £10 donation buys us a £15 sleeping bag. The remaining £5 helps provide other vital services for the homeless people we help. If you make a regular donation, Localgiving will match those funds for three months, so a regular £10 donation will buy three sleeping bags. Match funds and ongoing funds will be used to fund our other services that prevent single people and families becoming homeless.
